Last week I had the privilege to volunteer during the Light the Fire Again Pensacola 2019 crusade event. I have never even attended an event like this, let alone worked in one and I can say that it had a profound affect on me.
People came from all over the world to worship the Lord together and celebrate the love of Christ. It was 4 days of Music and Ministry, and the Holy Spirit was so strong, you could feel it in the air. There was a genuine hunger for the Lord, and an unbelievable spirit if giving and service moving all through the building. People helping each other in waves of selflessness, just as Jesus wants us to do.
I was working in front of the bookstore and near the end of the line I decided I wanted to get a book signed by Carlos Annacondia (one of the featured speakers). They had shut off the line and were not allowing anyone else in. Since I was working, I thought they might make an exception for me, but there was no budging on it. I was a little bummed out, but it was not a big deal. As I was about to walk away, the man that was last in line said “would it be OK if I blessed you?” and he gave me the copy of the book he had already bought, and gave me his place in line so that I could get it signed. There was so much love and sweetness from people in the building that it felt like a warm blanket.
I heard stories like this from many people during the event. I heard stories of people buying things for one another, giving up seats, strangers praying for each other, it was a servants paradise.
There was no shortage of miracles and healings either. I saw 3 different people either deaf or with hearing impediments completely regain their hearing. I saw 5 or 6 people have scars disappear from their bodies through prayer. Scars from cutting through depression, track marks from drug use, all gone and skin made new through the blood of Christ. Satan has no right to “accuse” you of your past after you have become born again as a new creation, so those scars just left.
I heard a story of a woman that got out of a wheelchair and walked, although I didn’t witness this one myself. I have felt the Holy Spirit move in my life before, but never have I felt so “immersed” in Him, like slipping into a warm pool on a hot summers day. It was truly a wonderful experience.
We were told in volunteer orientation that there would be some amazing things happen, and we were also told that there may be some people show up that were not there to soak up the worship, but might have the intention to disrupt the services. Honestly, I only saw maybe a half dozen people that appeared to be sucking on a lemon and not having a good time. And of them, no one made an outward attempt to disrupt the event.
I personally feel like the Holy Spirit was so prominent in there that any “Spirit of disruption” that may have led someone there was immediately convicted after entering the building. If you have the opportunity to attend an event sponsored by Christ for all Nations (CFAN), I would encourage you to do it. I think that you will be truly blessed by it.
